This a daily journal of Rick Marson's 21-day trip to Syria, Jordan, Egypt, Israel and Greece. Please be advised that every name and historical reference must be qualified by two phrases: "to the best of my memory", I'm carrying a camera and a water bottle and nothing to write with; and "to the best of my hearing", the Middle East is a windy place, it is hard to hear details while standing on a mountain taking pictures. Otherwise, this blog is completely accurate (ha), or should I say "tradition holds it to be accurate." This a common phrase used around the historical and biblical sites in the Middle East. It means, "This is the best estimate that was made centuries earlier and held to ever since", in other words, "That's my story and I'm stickin' to it". Maybe I'll do some facts-checking and editing when I get back . . . no, I'll probably be writing my reflection paper; oh well!
There is an Arabic word (or expression, I'm not sure) that our guides used when herding us from site to site. It is "yella" meaning "lets go". To view the daily journal entries and photos, just go to the archives below, select a date, sit back and "yella".
